Keanu Reeves | Cyberpunk 2077

Move over Norman Reedus, there’s a new sheriff in town! Er — well, at least in the dystopian future Night City of Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a widely anticipated single-player RPG, brought to you from the creators of The Witcher 3.

Jokes aside, this is a HUGE deal as Reeve’s character Johnny Silverhand was originally intended for a smaller role. But to much of CD Projekt Red’s amazement, Reeves requested twice as much screen time, resulting in a resounding, “Ah, yeah, more of that!”

Cyberpunk 2077

At the Lucca Comics and Games festival 2019, hosted in Italy for five days of awesomeness, WCCF reports that the John Wick actor’s long-time Italian dubber Lucca Ward enjoyed the role of Johnny Silverhand so much that he insisted on more screen time.

This isn’t the first time Reeves has become super-obsessed with his characters. For his role as John Wick, Reeves had participated in extensive weapons training making him as deadly as his fictional counterpart.

Also to note, on more than one occasion, Reeves voiced his willingness to re-don his trench coat as the chain-smoking John Constantine. DC has even recently made his adaptation of Constantine canon.

In an interview with Variety, Reeves didn’t hide his interest in the role, saying:

“I’ve always wanted to play John Constantine again. I just love that world, too, and I love that character. I just had a blast playing a character and in that world.”

So, maybe we’ll also be twice as lucky and see Reeves reprise another fan-favorite role as he rides the current upswing into absolute godhood.

Reeves has been the biggest star thus far to surprise an overwhelmed audience at Microsoft’s E3 conference.

Cyberpunk 2077

A blockbuster superstar with such films as the Matrix and John Wick trilogies, Reeves is the longstanding King of Sci-Fi and we are at his mercy. As the single non-playing character (NPC) with the most lines, it will be interesting to see where he falls into Cyberpunk 2077’s story — or better yet, if he turns out to be the force guiding it.

Cyberpunk 2077 is due to hit the market on April 16th, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as a recent confirmation on Google Stadia. There are some analysts claiming the game could sell up to 20 million units in its first year alone!

Below, I highly recommend checking out the livestream from August 30th, where Developers CD Projekt Red showed off the gameplay footage of Cyberpunk 2077. You’ll get a closer look at combat, customization, settings, and more.
